Kolkata: Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari on Wednesday skipped the swearing-in ceremony of Dr CV Ananda Bose as West Bengal Governor and called Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee the ‘worst politician born in India’.

In a series of tweets just ahead of the swearing-in ceremony, he clarified that he would not attend as he was asked to sit next to MLAs Krishna Kalyani and Vishwajit Das, who were elected on a BJP ticket but later became incumbent. In one of his five TMC tweets, Suvendu said, “Arrangements have been made to sit next to soon to be disqualified MLAs Krishna Kalyani and Biswajit Das. Both were elected on BJP tickets and later moved to TMC, hence the anti-defection drive against them.

“I will not attend the ceremony because I cannot sit next to such offensive persons”, he added.

Blaming West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for all this, he said, “Department of Information and Cultural Affairs; The WB government has made arrangements for the swearing-in ceremony. Seating arrangements as per Minister-in-charge @MamataOfficial’s discretion.

In another tweet, he said, “Compartmental’ Chief Minister @MamataOfficial still has nightmares about “Nandigram 1956” so she is doing this out of jealousy. Instead of the Bangla Academy Award for “relentless literary pursuits”, she should have been given the “Vengeance Award for her tireless efforts to defy constitutional norms”.

Suvendu added, “She is the worst politician born in India, who ignominiously grabbed power by becoming a “portfolio-less” Union minister. If she’s happy that her third rate tactics will annoy me, she’s living in a fool’s paradise. Unlike her, I am conscious of my dignity.”
However, he congratulated Dr CV Ananda Bose on being sworn in as Governor and sought an appointment with him.

In another tweet, he said, “Heartiest congratulations to Dr CV Ananda Bose on being sworn in as Governor of West Bengal. I have requested the Hon’ble Governor to please visit me separately at any time as per his convenience. Even if he asked me to meet him today.”

As Leader of Opposition, I represent the people of West Bengal. So it is my duty to apprise the constitutional head of the state about the various problems of our state; Such as rampant corruption, crumbling law and order and financial bankruptcy”, he said in another tweet.
