High Court gives permission to Thackeray group

Mumbai: The Uddhav Thackeray group has won the Dussehra Mela battle for prestige in the eyes of the Shiv Sena and the Shinde group. The Bombay High Court on Friday gave the green light to hold a Dussehra gathering at Shivaji Park after hearing the Shiv Sena’s application. This decision of the High Court is encouraging for Shiv Sena. The municipality had denied permission to both the Shinde group and the Thackeray group to hold a Dussehra gathering on Shivtirtha. After that, Shiv Sena approached the High Court. The application was argued for nearly three and a half hours in the High Court on Friday. The lawyers of Shiv Sena, Palika and Shinde group tried to convince their side. After this argument was over, the High Court allowed Thackeray to hold a Dussehra gathering on Shivtirtha saying that the municipality’s decision was not based on reality. At this time, Thackeray’s lawyers assured the court that law and order would be maintained.

The court case going on in the Supreme Court is a kind of vicious cycle… There is a lot to talk about.. But it has nothing to do with organizing the Dussehra Mela, the intervention application of the Shinde group ie MLA Sada Saravankar was dismissed by the Bombay High Court. While rejecting the application, the court said that we agree with the arguments made by the Thackeray group on the intervention application.

We are not going into whose Shiv Sena party it is. That dispute is pending before the Supreme Court and the Central Election Commission. There is no reason for us to go into it. Since 2016, Mumbai Municipal Corporation has been giving permission for Dussehra Mela at Shivaji Park. Provisions have been made through notification regarding several programs at Shivaji Park. There are 45 days in total. There are 7 days of them.

Shiv Sena applied to the municipality for this year’s project. The application came as there was no response. Decided to hold a hearing on it. Then on September 21, the senior police inspector of Dadar police station gave feedback to the municipality that law and order problem may arise. On that basis, the municipality rejected both the applications. On September 21, the municipality communicated the order to the applicants. The municipality could not give any satisfactory answer as to why the application was not decided during the period from August 22 to September 21. According to us, the decision of the municipality is correct, not appropriate.
