FSJ News Updates,

Everyone remembers where they were when Hilary Duff ended homophobia with her now-iconic public service announcement about why it was wrong to call negative things “gay.”

In the original video, which ran on American television in 2008, Duff overhears two girls discussing clothes in a store. One calls the other’s top “gay,” to which Duff, an original ally, steps in and stops the situation.

The actress who played Disney Channel icon Lizzie McGuire in the early 2000s recreated it with the help of Pentatonix’s Scott Hoying and his fiance Mark Mania.

In TikTok, which has been viewed more than 200,000 times, the trio syncs up with the original sound of the ad.

As far as we’re concerned, Hilary Duff deserves an Emmy, an Oscar, and a Nobel Peace Prize for this clip.

Fans loved it too and the comments section exploded with admiration.

“Points were scored,” commented Ziwe, another cultural icon.

“The most iconic ad of all time and always ahead of its time,” said one user.

Others made other points highlighting the ad’s impact on young queer kids: “HILARYYY this ad meant so much to me.”

Another wrote: “I literally stopped saying this cause of this ad” – proof that Hilary’s influence is working.

It’s no surprise that Duff has found devotion among the LGBTQ+ community, previously stating that her gay fans were some of the first to take her career seriously.

“I’ve felt that support for many, many years,” she said PRIDE earlier this year.

“I think the gay community was a huge push for me because they were behind me and I didn’t even really know it until I was at my concerts and stuff and I was like, ‘Oh man, like now the press has to pay attention to this. because look who’s showing me off or look who’s fucking my ass.'”

Then she dropped another truth bomb.

“I’m just so appreciative of all the support I’ve had since then Lizzie McGuire” he says, before adding, “but gays are obviously the funniest.”

We know it is, Hilary!

She also recently teased an LGBTQ+ twist for her character in Hulusov How I met your mother spinoff.
